We are

Theilen Maschinenbau.
Custom belt dryers. Precision components. Special-purpose machines designed and manufactured in-house.
It’s a special moment when an idea becomes a machine. When drawings, materials, and countless manual steps come together to create something that serves our customers day in and day out. That’s what we work toward at Theilen Maschinenbau.
We’ve been rooted in Varel since 1856. Today, we combine this experience with modern technology and people who take pride in contributing their expertise. We’re united by our commitment to creating quality in Germany—and building technology you can rely on.
What would you like to achieve with us?
Our

Component manufacturing.
From your drawing to the finished assembly.
Do you need individual parts from a drawing, recurring series, or a fully assembled unit? At THEILEN, sheet metal fabrication, structural steel fabrication, CNC machining, surface treatment, and assembly all work together seamlessly.
We manufacture according to your specifications and, upon request, also handle the procurement of associated purchased parts as well as mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic assembly. This ensures you receive the exact scope of services your project actually requires.
Our

Belt drying systems.
Proper drying starts with your product.
Do you want to reduce moisture, achieve a specific product quality, or further optimize your drying process? We develop custom belt dryers and tailor the technology, temperature control, and residence time to your requirements.
More than 400 belt drying systems installed worldwide and our own technical center provide a solid foundation for this. Product testing allows us to clarify important questions even before the system is designed.
Our

Special-purpose facilities.
Technology for tasks that don’t have a standard solution.
Whether it’s a new production process, a specialized application, or a custom expansion: We develop machines and systems tailored to your specific needs.
Our design department works directly with our in-house manufacturing divisions. This allows us to assess the feasibility of technical ideas early on and support your project from development through installation and commissioning.
For us, expertise isn’t just on paper—it’s right here in our plant.
In Varel, we combine design, mechanical manufacturing, surface finishing, electrical engineering, and assembly. For you, this means less coordination between different suppliers and direct clarification of technical questions.
We use SolidWorks to design components, assemblies, and complete machines. Function, manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance are all taken into account during the design process.
Our 6-kW Trumpf fiber laser processes sheet metal sizes up to 4,000 × 2,000 mm. For bending, LVD machines with working widths up to 4,000 mm are available.
We manufacture machine frames, racks, support structures, and custom steel and stainless steel assemblies—followed by machining and assembly according to project requirements.
Our turning operations accommodate workpiece lengths of up to 6,000 mm. For large-format milling operations, we offer machining capabilities of up to 3,500 × 1,250 × 1,200 mm. Automated machines supplement our production capabilities for recurring orders.
Grinding, deburring, rounding, polishing, and glass bead blasting: We finish surfaces to suit the component’s function and appearance. We coordinate additional processes according to your specifications.
We build control cabinets, integrate electrical and pneumatic systems, and assemble individual components into complete subassemblies and systems. We tailor testing and commissioning to the agreed-upon scope of the project.
Plants grow under controlled conditions and are transported through different growth zones on a conveyor system: With this concept, ORBIFARM® is developing a modular system for indoor plant production.
THEILEN contributes its technical implementation expertise.
Our in-house design team develops the necessary mechanical assemblies in close collaboration with ORBIFARM®. An internal project team coordinates the tasks and aligns technical requirements, interfaces, and development steps with our partner.
The challenge lies in the interplay: conveyor technology and system design must be tailored to the requirements of plant production, lighting, and ventilation. At the same time, the components must be manufacturable, easy to assemble, and simple to maintain later on.
The project is currently in the development and implementation phases. It demonstrates how we tackle new challenges: with our in-house design team, practical manufacturing expertise, and close collaboration with our partner.
We develop and manufacture machines, systems, and components for the food and beverage industry, as well as for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Our customers also include companies in the additive manufacturing sector.
Every industry has its own specific requirements regarding materials, surfaces, and functionality. We draw on our manufacturing expertise to tailor the design to your specific application.
We are committed to shaping advanced mechanical engineering in Germany. That’s why we develop and manufacture in Varel—with our own design department, a versatile machine park, and production areas that work together directly.
For our customers, this means: resolving technical issues right where the solution is created. Coordinating manufacturing steps. And having a partner who bridges development and implementation.
Our location is more than just an address. Here, we gain industrial expertise, train our staff, and lay the foundation for the next generation of mechanical engineering.
Rooted in Varel. Serving customers worldwide.
A machine bears the mark of the people who build it.
At THEILEN, these are people who pay close attention, understand their field, and work together to find solutions. Whether in design, working on the machine, welding, or during assembly, everyone contributes their expertise. Only together do we achieve a result we can be proud of.
What matters to us is evident in our daily interactions: sharing knowledge, openly addressing questions, supporting colleagues, and taking responsibility for our own work. This also includes identifying challenges and working together to solve them.
We want our customers to experience this approach—whether in a face-to-face conversation or through the component or system that leaves our factory.
What would you like to accomplish with us?
