We develop and build complete processing lines for food, herbs, spices, and plant-based raw materials—customized to the product, process, and desired output.
Whether before or after drying: We integrate individual process steps into a continuous production line. From dosing and conveying to cutting and sorting, all the way to screening, sifting, inspecting, and filling.
One process. One line. One partner.
The quality of the drying process begins even before the dryer.
Depending on the application, our pre-processing lines handle the reception, dosing, cleaning, grinding, sorting, and controlled transport of the product.
Especially when it comes to herbs, spices, and other leafy products, a wide variety of raw materials can be processed—such as lavender, lemon balm, peppermint, parsley, dill, or basil.
For example, one completed line processes freshly harvested leafy produce, first removing stones, then cutting the product, and finally separating the leaves from the stems and twigs. Depending on the product, the projected feed rate is up to approximately 3,000 kg/h.
Possible process steps: Dosing and buffering · Separating foreign matter · Cutting and grinding · Sorting · Conveying and distributing · Recirculating and bypassing · Transfer to the subsequent process
Even after the actual drying process, proper post-processing is key to ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
Our post-processing lines take the dried product directly from the dryer and carry out the necessary process steps until the defined product fraction is achieved or the product is transferred to packaging or weighing.
In an actual onion processing operation, for example, dried onion cubes, rings, and slices—at a rate of approximately 300 kg/h and separated into different size fractions. The system separates three fractions and combines sorting with gentle product handling as well as a hygienic and easy-to-clean design.
Possible process steps: Discharging · Crushing · Pneumatic conveying · Screening · Sifting · Sorting · Metal detection · Distributing · Weighing and transfer to packaging
Theilen does more than just manufacture individual components. We develop the overall system integration.
Mechanical design, conveyor technology, mechanical engineering, and control systems are integrated into a single, functioning unit. The individual modules can be pre-assembled and tested at our plant. This reduces assembly and installation time at the customer’s site. This concept was implemented in both documented processing lines.
From product feeding to product discharge, we therefore do not focus on individual machines, but always on the entire material flow.
